What to Look for When Choosing an Automatic Cat Feeder

When you’re reviewing or choosing automatic feeders (for yourself or for recommending to others), these are the features that matter most:

1. Portion Control & Number of Meals per Day
   ‒ Can you set small enough portions? Can you schedule multiple meals? (If your cat needs small frequent meals or is on a weight management plan, this is critical.)
2. Power Options / Battery Backup
   ‒ If the power goes out, does it stop working (and leave your pet hungry)? Models with battery backup or rechargeable batteries are better.
3. Freshness / Food Protection
   ‒ Airtight lids, desiccant bags, moisture control, preventing food from going stale, preventing pests.
4. Ease of Cleaning / Maintenance
   ‒ Removable bowls, easy access to food chute, parts that are dishwasher safe, etc.
5. Smart Features / Connectivity (optional but good)
   ‒ WiFi or app control, voice call reminders, notifications for low food or blockage, remote scheduling.
6. Capacity / Size
   ‒ How much dry food does the feeder hold? Enough for your cat(s) for a few days?
7. Durability / anti-jam design
